These Kids and Their MTV

We're throwing a Halloween party. It's our third one and I'm pleased Halloween is finally landing on a weekend.

Because I'm excited, and because I haven't had much to do at work lately, and because the last episode of The Hills was boring and I don't have much to say about it on Hollywood Sucker, I've spent the day planning for the party.

After sending out the invitations (not using evite...I can't stand evite any more) and ordering decorations (streamers! and paper bats!), I decided to make a playlist.

Obviously I don't have my itunes library here with me at work, so I figured I would think of some new songs I can download.

It took me all of 20 seconds to realize I couldn't name one new song ---and certainly nothing anyone would want to hear at a party. I don't have much of a drive to work in the mornings, so I don't really listen to the radio in my car. And I don't get out much, so I'm not really around DJs at clubs.

So I found myself on MTV.com, watching 25 music videos I'd never seen --mostly by artists I'd never heard of --jotting down songs I liked.

I don't have a point to this story, other than to remark on how old and out of touch that made me feel.

And while I'm (sort of) on the topic of my Halloween party --can anyone tell me what to be for Halloween? I have no ideas.

My top 3 options so far:

1. A martini (but I was a margarita last year and I don't want to be stuck in a rut)

2. A fairy (but there isn't anything funny or clever about this...I just like wings...)

3. A sweatsuit

Please help.

AMERICAN APPAREL MODEL!

Go to the store and by random crap and attempt to look washed out and distended and vaguely kiddie-porn-esque.

You can go as your other half and he can go as you. It`s almost like a sweatsuit.

Hooray Halloween parties!!!

I am so excited that it is on a Friday this year. I did the "scare-little-kids" thing and THEN went out until all hours of the morning... and then had to go to work the next day. It hurt.

You could be one of the girls on The Hills! Do you have a babetard stupidface mask? :P

I have been telling everyone (though mostly women) to dress as a Sexy Ghostbuster. Seriously. You can buy that costume online!

Also, while it is a bit on the nose, Vampire Weekend could be good music for your party.

joy- You suggest buying random clothes from American Apparel as though you were suggesting buying clothes from Salvation Army. American Apparel is too expensive to mess with.

yuuka- It would be if I were dating a sweatsuit. And I'm pretty sure I have dated a sweatsuit...if you count some of my single years.

surviving- I know...but now I have something better.

jenbun- I thought about being Justin Bobby, actually. But I thought being him as a girl...I'd just look like Chrissie Hynde.

jill- That's too easy. I'm one cardigan away from hooker most days.

com- That's true...and elbow length gloves.

peter- I think you'd make a sexy ghostbuster yourself!

wear an old bridesmaid dress, grab a tiara for $5- and be a beauty queen. easy and cheap. extra points for running mascara.
